This article analyzes the essence and conceptual foundations of developing students’ independent learning competence based on a
competency-based approach from theoretical and empirical perspectives. The study identifies the role of the competency-based
approach in the education system, the structural components of independent learning competence, and effective mechanisms for
its development. Based on experimental research results, the dynamics of students’ independent learning competence development
were determined and analyzed using diagrams.
