“THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN PROTECTING YOUTH FROM RADICALISM”
The article offers a social-philosophical analysis of the dual role of social media in protecting young people from radicalism. Social media are treated not merely as channels of information but as institutions of digital socialization that shape identity, values, social ties and perceptions of reality. The study explains how perceived injustice, identity crisis, social alienation, group polarization, algorithmic recommendations and manipulative narratives interact in radicalization. It compares approaches developed in the United States, Europe, Russia, the Arab world, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and other Asian scholarly contexts. The author proposes the ‘MA’NO’ model based on media literacy, justice and social trust, constructive narratives and online-offline cooperation.
