Authors

This article analyzes archival documents related to the protection of motherhood and childhood in the Turkestan ASSR. Based on
materials from the National Archives of Uzbekistan, the activities of the People's Commissariat of Health and its departments are
studied. Special attention is given to the institutional development, sanitary conditions of orphanages, medical services, and the
socio-economic challenges of the early Soviet period. The study reveals that despite severe economic difficulties, systematic
measures were undertaken to protect mothers and children. The scientific novelty lies in the introduction of previously
underutilized archival materials into academic circulation.
