This article examines the emergence and development of ecocriticism and explores its theoretical and methodological foundations in contemporary literary studies. It also presents a comparative ecocritical analysis of Bryce Andrews's “Down from the Mountain: The Life and Death of a Grizzly Bear” and Normurod Norqobilov's “Ovul oralagan bo'ri”. The findings reveal that both works portray the relationship between humans and wildlife through the perspectives of ecological awareness, biodiversity conservation, and human responsibility toward nature. The study demonstrates the potential of ecocritical methodology for the comparative analysis of contemporary American and Uzbek literature
