The article examines the role of textbooks in developing reading comprehension skills as a key element of successful learning. Emphasis is placed on the didactic structure of the textbook text, the typology of tasks, and their impact on the semantic perception of information. The need to develop teaching aids aimed at developing functional literacy and critical thinking in students is substantiated.
