THE PEDAGOGICAL PROBLEM OF DEVELOPING INDEPENDENT LEARNING SKILLS IN FUTURE ENGINEERS

This article analyzes the pedagogical problems of developing independent learning skills in future engineers. The importance of independent learning in modern engineering education, its structural components, and stages of formation are discussed. The study identifies the main factors hindering the development of independent learning skills, including methodological, motivational, assessment-related, and information and communication technology-related issues. In addition, ways of developing independent learning skills based on an interdisciplinary approach, competency-based education, the CDIO model, and the credit-module system are substantiated. The results of the study show that independent learning plays an important role in developing the professional competencies of future engineers.
