This study reveals the necessity of introducing changes to traditional teaching practices to develop students’ independent learning
skills in higher education. The article aims to demonstrate the significance and necessity of applying the constructivist approach in
higher education. The author emphasises the important role of the constructivist approach in preparing students for society and
their future professional careers. The study is based on a descriptive research approach. The article draws upon the constructivist
theories of Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and John Dewey
