This article presents a lexical-semantic analysis of food names used in the novella Shum bola. During the research, the theoretical foundations of gastronomic vocabulary were examined, and the semantic field, lexical-semantic groups, and functional features of food-related lexemes were analyzed. The lexemes such as “mosh,” “moshxo‘rda,” “qurt,” “chalpak,” and “qovoq” used in the work were subjected to lexical-semantic analysis. Furthermore, the role of food names in character creation, depiction of the social environment, and expression of national identity and cultural color was scientifically explained. The results of the study demonstrate that gastronomic vocabulary in a literary text functions not only as a means of representing everyday realities, but also as a semantic and functional system reflecting the historical and cultural worldview of the people.
