This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the system of moral education and the idea of a perfect person in the scientific and literary heritage of Alisher Navoi based on an ethnological approach. The author of the article considers Navoi’s works as a holistic ethnological and pedagogical system and reveals the connection of this system with the ethnic mentality of the Uzbek people, national values, and traditional educational practices. During the study, the educational ideas embodied in Navoi’s works such as «Mahbub ul-qulub», «Khamsa», «Hayrat ul-abror», «Muhokamat ul-lug‘atayn» are interpreted in a new way from the point of view of the principles of ethnology and folk pedagogy. The scientific novelty of the study is that Navoi’s heritage is presented for the first time as a holistic ethnological program, and each of its components is analyzed comparatively with modern ethnological theories.
