This article investigates the biochemical composition, enzymatic activity, and toxic effects of the venoms of poisonous snakes
inhabiting the Republic of Karakalpakstan, including the Turan blunt-nosed viper (Vipera lebetina turanica), the Halys pit viper
(Gloydius halys), and the Kölvor snake. The biological roles of venom metalloproteinases, serine proteinases, phospholipase A₂,
and hyaluronidase were analyzed, and their characteristics were compared with the venoms of highly venomous tropical snakes
such as cobras, black mambas, and taipans. The results demonstrated that the venoms of snakes found in Karakalpakstan are
predominantly hemotoxic and cytotoxic in nature, whereas the venoms of tropical elapid snakes are characterized mainly by
neurotoxic effects.
