This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of studying the problem of professional choice in students. In particular, the
psychological and social factors of the process of professional choice, the influence of individual interests, abilities and
motivation on the professional direction are considered. Based on various psychological approaches, the internal and external
factors in students' decision-making regarding professional choice are revealed. Also, the role of psychological services in
identifying and solving problems related to professional choice is theoretically substantiated. The study analyzes the opinions of
foreign and domestic scientists and develops recommendations for the formation of students' professional self-awareness.
