This article analyzes the political, economic, and administrative processes that took place in the Surkhan Valley during the Manghit period, particularly from the second half of the 18th century to the early 20th century, based on archival documents. Archival collections preserved in the Central State Archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other relevant repositories serve as key sources in examining the strategic importance of the region, the military-political activities of the Bukhara Emirate, the geopolitical interests of the Russian Empire during the age of Tsarism, and the territorial transformations that occurred in the valley. The article highlights the scientific and historical value of archival materials and sheds light on understudied aspects of the Manghit era.
