This article analyzes the role and importance of the competency-based approach in teaching the works of the representatives of
world literature, Ernest Hemingway and Seton Thompson, in general secondary education institutions. The article highlights factors
for developing literary-aesthetic thinking, independent thinking, and socio-cultural competencies among students based on a
competency-based approach. The results of the research serve as a methodological foundation for effectively organizing literature
classes.
