This article analyzes the theory of conceptual metaphor and studies conceptual metaphors through cognitive and discursive
approaches. The study substantiates the manifestation of metaphor not only as an artistic tool, but also as an important cognitive
mechanism that organizes human thinking. Within the framework of cognitive linguistics, conceptual metaphor is interpreted as a
process of understanding and structuring abstract concepts in the human mind through concrete experience. The article examines
the relationship of conceptual metaphor with concept, frame, prototype and experiential knowledge, and analyzes its functional
significance in a discursive environment. It also reveals the role of metaphor in creating meaning, evaluating, influencing and
forming an ideological position based on examples. The results of the study show that conceptual metaphor is a complex
cognitive phenomenon that reflects the inextricable link between language and thinking.
