In the article, the effects of different doses of gamma radiation on the germination energy and germination rate of cotton seeds were analyzed, and optimal variants were identified. Data on the variability of the fiber yield trait in plants obtained from the optimal (150 Gy) treatment were presented. The obtained results were comparatively analyzed between control and experimental variants across different cotton varieties.
It was determined that the 300 Gy dose had a sharply negative effect on the germination energy and germination rate of cotton seeds. By exposing seeds to gamma radiation, it is possible to obtain forms with both negative and positive altered traits compared to the control variant. Furthermore, in the 150 Gy treatment variant, plants exhibiting a fiber yield higher than 40% were identified.
