Authors

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries are considered promising safe and cost-effective energy storage systems; however, their practical application is constrained by the interfacial stability of the zinc anode. Ion transport inhomogeneity at the anode–electrolyte interface leads to dendrite formation, hydrogen evolution reaction, and passivation. This work analyzes Zn²⁺ solvation, ion flux distribution, local current density, and plating/stripping kinetics in relation to degradation mechanisms. Interfacial stabilization strategies are systematically summarized from a mechanistic perspective, and a conceptual model aimed at enhancing long-term anode stability is proposed.
