SORPTION-SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF MANGANESE (II) IONS USING IMMOBILIZED REAGENT H-RESORCINOL
A sorption–spectrophotometric method for the determination of manganese(II) ions using the azo reagent H-resorcinol has been
developed. The organic reagent was immobilized onto silk fibroin fiber, and optimal conditions for complex formation, including
pH, reagent concentration, and interaction time, were established. The Mn(II) complex exhibited maximum absorbance at 510 nm
with a molar absorptivity coefficient of ε=18223. The method demonstrates high contrast (Δλ=40 nm) and satisfactory sensitivity.
Reflectance spectra were evaluated using the Kubelka–Munk function. The proposed procedure is suitable for the determination of
trace amounts of manganese in environmental and wastewater samples and offers simplicity, reliability, and practical applicability.
