EFFECTS OF FLAVONOIDS ON GLUCOSE METABOLIC REGULATION AND Α-AMYLASE ACTIVITY UNDER EXPERIMENTAL DIABETES CONDITIONS
This study investigated the effects of the flavonoids quercetin and dihydroquercetin on carbohydrate metabolism parameters in
alloxan-induced experimental diabetes. The diabetic model was established in Wistar rats weighing 150-180 g. Flavonoids were
administered orally at a dose of 25 mg/kg for 14 days. Plasma glucose, α-amylase, and albumin levels were evaluated. The results
demonstrated a significant reduction in hyperglycemia, α-amylase activity, and hyperalbuminemia following flavonoid treatment.
These findings indicate the hypoglycemic, antioxidant, and metabolic corrective properties of quercetin and dihydroquercetin and
suggest their potential as promising agents in the management of metabolic disturbances associated with diabetes.
