This article comparatively investigates the pragmatic nature of irony and sarcasm in English and Uzbek linguistics. The study analyzes the aspects of irony related to hidden implicature, pragmatic meaning, communicative strategy, and contextual interpretation based on the theoretical views of world and Uzbek linguists. The research findings contribute to the development of pragmalinguistics, linguoculturology, discourse analysis, cognitive linguistics, and comparative linguistics
