This article analyzes one of the most pressing areas of modern psychology, coping behavior, its essence, and methodological
foundations. The study highlights the emergence of the “coping” concept, its distinctions from psychological defense mechanisms,
and the processes of an individual's active adaptation to stress factors. In the methodological section, alongside the classical
approaches of scholars such as R. Lazarus, S. Folkman, and N. Endler, systemic-dynamic and situational approaches to studying
coping strategies are analyzed. As a result, coping strategies are substantiated as a primary factor in maintaining an individual's
mental health and ensuring social adaptation.
