The article examines the relationship between a term and a concept, the logical and conceptual foundations of the terminological
system, as well as the main requirements for a terminology system – systematicity, precision, and clarity. The essence of modern
terminology is interpreted in three dimensions: as a theory, as a practical activity, and as the lexical composition of a specialized
branch of science. In conclusion, the study highlights the current issues in Uzbek linguistics related to terminology research – the
processes of terminologization, determinologization, and reterminologization, as well as challenges associated with the study of
such units as preterm, quasi-term, terminoid, and hybrid term.
