This article analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations that influence the manifestation of students' creative traits. Various definitions of the concept of creativity, its psychological and pedagogical aspects, as well as factors influencing the formation of creativity are considered. At the same time, methods and techniques for developing creativity, approaches that serve to increase students' creative thinking abilities are discussed. The article examines the views of such scientists as J. Gilford, E. Torrens, S. Mednik on creativity and their application in the modern education system. The study pays special attention to the criteria for diagnosing creativity and assessing it.
