UPDATED SPECIES LIST AND CONSERVATION STATUS OF THE FISH FAUNA (ACTINOPTERYGII: TELEOSTEI) IN THE MIDDLE AND LOWER REACHES OF THE KARA DARYA RIVER
The Kara Darya River is one of the most important rivers in the Fergana Valley and plays a crucial role in shaping the region’s ichthyofauna. This article presents an updated species composition of fish in the middle and lower reaches of the Kara Darya River, along with their conservation status assessed based on IUCN criteria. According to the study results, 28 fish species belonging to 14 families and 6 orders were recorded in the middle and lower reaches of the river. In terms of conservation status, one species (Alburnus chalcoides) was classified as “Data Deficient” (DD), one species (Cyprinus carpio) as “Vulnerable” (VU), and 26 species as “Least Concern” (LC).
