The aim of this study was to determine the structure of the synthesized complex compounds of cobalt and nickel chlorides with a new ligand 5-methyl-2-(1,3-thiazol-2-ylsulfanyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole. The synthesized complexes were studied by elemental and thermal analysis, IR and electron diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the ligand is bidentate and coordinated to the central ion through the nitrogen atoms of the thiadiazole and thiazole rings. Chloride anions act as acido ligands, and the complexes are neutral.
