After Vali Muhammad Khan’s death, Imam Quli Khan (1611–1642) ascended to the throne of the Bukhara Khanate. With the strengthening of Imamkuli Khan’s power in Bukhara, a period of calm began in relations with the Safavid dynasty. However, during the reign of Imamkuli Khan, relations with the Shahs of Iran improved, and friendly and diplomatic relations were maintained between the two countries. This article analyzes, based on sources, the diplomatic relations with Imamquli Khan during the reigns of the Safavid rulers Abbas I and Safi I in Iran.
