The Bukhara Khanate, established in the 16th century (formally recognized as a khanate in 1533), occupies a significant place in the history of Uzbek statehood. Initially governed by the Shaybanid dynasty (1501–1601) and later by the Ashtarkhanid dynasty (1601–1756), the khanate experienced considerable political and cultural development. Prominent among these rulers were Shaybanid leaders such as Shaybani Khan (1501–1510) and Abdullah Khan II (1556–1598), as well as the Ashtarkhanid ruler Imamqulikhan (1611–1642). During Imamqulikhan’s reign, the Bukhara Khanate evolved into a powerful centralized state. His policies led to territorial expansion, consolidation of central authority, and notable advancements in culture, science, and education. This article analyzes these historical transformations based on scholarly sources
