If we pay attention to the development trends of the ghaza genre, we will witness that Turkic poetry was a new and unique stage in the development of the ghazal. The role of the ghazals in expressing the socio-political, moral-educational and emotional-philosophical views of a particular region and period is important. Thematic, structural and poetic analysis of ghazals created in the second half of the 20th century in Uzbek poetry helps to study the socio-political and literary-aesthetic principles of this period. The article scientifically demonstrates how the ghazal form, which was divided into different types and different periods, has changed by this century and what their uniqueness is manifested in. The classification of ghazals of the period is based on the ideas of O.Nosirov, R.Orzibekov, D.Yusupova, H.Homidiy and other scholars on the classification of the ghazal genre. As a result of scientific research, this genre has been formally divided into seven types. These are: 1) ordinary ghazal; 2) ghazal qit’a; 3) ghazal musajja’; 4) ghazal muvashshah; 5) ghazal qoshmuvashshahi tarikh; 6) ghazal zulqafiyatayn; 7) ghazal zulradifayn.
