Proverbs, as carriers of cultural and linguistic heritage, reflect the worldview, values, and traditions of a nation. Among the wide range of symbolic images in paremiology, food-related concepts occupy a central role, with bread (non in Uzbek) representing not only a staple food but also a sacred cultural symbol. This article provides a linguocultural analysis of proverbs containing the component bread/non in comparative languages. The study reveals both universal and culture-specific aspects of how bread is conceptualized in different linguistic and cultural contexts. By comparing Uzbek and English paremiological units, the research highlights similarities and differences in symbolic meanings, semantic functions, and pragmatic usage of proverbs. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of intercultural communication and the role of food-related imagery in shaping national identity.
