This work presents the synthesis of a mixed-ligand complex compound of cobalt(II) ion with piracetam and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and its study by IR spectroscopy. The complex compound was synthesized in an aqueous medium, and its composition was determined using elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The molecular structure and bonding characteristics of functional groups were studied by IR spectroscopy. The results showed that the cobalt(II) ion forms a stable mixed-ligand complex with the carbonyl group of piracetam and the carboxylate group of acetylsalicylic acid. The main IR spectral lines of the complex were observed in the ranges of 1600-1650 cm⁻¹ (νC=O), 1550-1600 cm⁻¹ (νₐₛCOO⁻), 1380-1420 cm⁻¹ (νₛCOO⁻), and 500-600 cm⁻¹ (νCo-O). The synthesized complex shows potential nootropic and anti-inflammatory activity for pharmaceutical applications.
