Ushbu maqola chet tillarni o‘qitishda o‘quvchilarning o‘qish ko‘nikmalarini rivojlantirishning o‘ziga xos xususiyatlarini tahlil qiladi. U an’anaviy dekodlash amaliyotlaridan tanqidiy fikrlash, lug‘at boyligini kengaytirish va madaniy tushunishni o‘z ichiga olgan yanada samarali, tushunishga qaratilgan yondashuvlarga o‘tishni ta’kidlaydi. Interaktiv va o‘quvchiga yo‘naltirilgan usullarga urg‘u berib, maqola keng qamrovli o‘qish, matnni tez ko‘zdan kechirish va ma’lumot izlash usullari hamda lingvistik malaka va mustaqil o‘qish qobiliyatini oshiruvchi vazifaga asoslangan faoliyatlar kabi strategiyalarni muhokama qiladi. O‘quvchilarning turli darajadagi bilimlariga moslashishda asl matnlar, raqamli manbalar va tabaqalashtirilgan ta’limning rolini alohida ta’kidlaydi. Bundan tashqari, tadqiqot shakllantiruvchi baholash va o‘qish strategiyalarini o‘rgatish matnlar bilan chuqurroq ishlashni qanday rag‘batlantirishini o‘rganadi.
