Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Privacy Statement

JMC is committed to protecting your privacy. This statement explains what personal data we collect in connection with manuscript handling and journal operations, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

  • Account and author details: names, affiliations, positions, ORCID iDs, emails, phone numbers (optional).
  • Manuscript metadata and content: titles, abstracts, files, figures, cover letters, competing interest declarations.
  • Reviewer data: expertise keywords, invitations, responses, reports.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser/OS, cookies, submission timestamps, usage logs.

2. How We Use Data (Legal Bases)

  • Manuscript processing and peer review (contract/legitimate interest).
  • Communication with authors and reviewers (contract/legitimate interest).
  • Indexing, DOI registration, and archiving (legitimate interest/legal obligation).
  • Integrity checks (e.g., similarity screening) and fraud prevention (legitimate interest).
  • Analytics to improve journal services (legitimate interest).
  • Compliance with laws and lawful requests (legal obligation).

3. Sharing and Transfers

We share personal data only as necessary with service providers (manuscript system host, plagiarism screening services, DOI registration agencies) and editorial board members under confidentiality. Data may be transferred internationally with appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses). We do not sell personal data.

4. Retention

Manuscript and peer review records are typically retained for at least 5 years after the editorial decision or publication to ensure research integrity and traceability, unless a longer period is required by law or archiving standards.

5. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

6. Cookies

The journal website may use essential and analytics cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not function without them.

7. Your Rights

  • Access, rectification, and erasure of your personal data.
  • Restriction or objection to processing, and data portability where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent (without affecting prior lawful processing).
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, subject to local law.

8. Children

The journal does not knowingly collect data from individuals under 16 years old. If you believe such data has been provided, please contact us for prompt deletion.
