DETERMINATION OF INFLUENCE LEVELS OF PRUNE DWARF VIRUS ON PIGMENT QUANTITY OF SWEET CHERRY
Abstract
Chlorophyll is one of the most important organoids in a plant cell. Viral infections are considered intracellular infections and mainly cause a decrease in the amount of chlorophyll, which is the photosynthetic apparatus in the plant cell. Prune dwarf virus (PDV) also has a negative effect on the morpho-physiological processes of such a plant and causes leaf pigments to die. In this paper, the effect on the amount of pigment in the leaves of Prunus avium infected with PDV to different degrees was studied. As a result of the research, as the level of viral infection increased, the amount of pigment in the plant leaf, especially the amount of chlorophyll "a" pigment, was compared to the control. (25,642 mg/ml) was found to decrease by 1.5 times (16,457 mg/l), in moderate damage by 2.2 times (11,386 mg/l), and in severe damage by 2.8 times (9,073 mg/l).
