This article compares the concepts of pairs of words and idiomatic expressions in German and Uzbek languages. Compound words are expressions that combine two words and their combined meaning is different from their individual meanings. The article examines the linguistic, lexical, and cultural aspects of word pairs, as well as how they create meaning together through idiomatic expressions. Similarities and differences between pairs of words and idiomatic expressions in German and Uzbek languages, their expressed content and their place in the language are analyzed in detail. The article also shows the cultural validity of idiomatic expressions and pairs of words, the relationship between language and culture, and the differences between cultures through pairs of words and expressions. Linguistic significance of pairs of words and idiomatic expressions and their role in communication are also highlighted.
