The article examines the development of occupational lexical competence in English as an important pedagogical issue in higher education. Despite having a command of general English, students experience difficulties in using professional terminology. The study is based on a mixed-methods approach that includes questionnaires, diagnostic tests, and a pedagogical experiment. The findings show that instruction grounded in professional contexts and supported by multimedia tools effectively enhances occupational vocabulary. A comparison of pre- and post-test results confirms positive progress in understanding and applying professional terminology
