A STUDY OF TRANSLATION STRATEGIES FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE TEXTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF FUNCTIONALIST TRANSLATION THEORY - BASED ON THE CHINESE TRANSLATION OF THE BOOK ‘JOURNEY THROUGH THE HISTORIC CITIES OF UZBEKISTAN: ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS, CULTURAL HERIT

With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the introduction of a visa-free regime between China and Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan
has become an attractive destination for Chinese tourists. This has increased the demand for high-quality translation of cultural heritage
texts. Based on functionalist translation theory, this study analyzes translation strategies used in translating an Uzbek academic article on
historical cities into Chinese. The research shows that such texts combine both informative and expressive functions, requiring a balance
between accuracy and functionality. Key strategies include transliteration with annotations, structural equivalence, reduction of
redundancy, and cultural analogy. The study aims to provide practical guidance for translating historical and cultural heritage texts of
Central Asia.
