This study investigated the possibility of sorption-spectrophotometric determination of Hg(II) ions by immobilizing the IREA
cadion reagent on a fibrous carrier based on silk fibroin. The electronic absorption and diffuse reflectance spectra of the reagent
and its Hg(II) complex were analyzed, and the analytical maximum of the complex was recorded at approximately 515 nm. The
optimal determination conditions were established, and the calibration curve showed high linearity with an R² value of 0.9953. The
obtained results indicate that the developed sorption-spectrophotometric method is promising for the quantitative determination of
Hg(II) ions.
