Teaching intercultural communication competence in foreign language education is one of the most important directions of modern education. Language and culture are closely interconnected, and in the process of learning a foreign language, it is necessary to master not only linguistic knowledge but also the culture, values, and social behaviors specific to that language. By teaching intercultural communication, students gain the ability to establish effective communication with representatives of different nations and to prevent cultural barriers and misunderstandings. However, there are several pressing issues in this process: the lack of authentic cultural environment, insufficient methodological preparation of teachers, and the inadequacy of cultural components in teaching materials. This article analyzes modern approaches to developing intercultural communication in foreign language teaching, the importance of practical exercises and assignments, as well as existing problems and their solutions. It substantiates the necessity of developing effective strategies for forming intercultural competence in foreign language education.
