INTERLINGUAL LACUNARITY OF MEDIA TEXTS: EXPLICATION OF ENGLISH-LANGUAGE REALITIES IN THE UZBEK LANGUAGE

lacunarity, media texts, explication of semantic gaps, comparison of languages and cultures, English language, Uzbek language.

Authors

This article examines interlingual lacunae in the English–Uzbek language pair, interpreted as “semantic gaps” — elements present in English-language media texts but absent in the linguistic and cultural system of the receptor language (Uzbek). These semantic lacunae may lead to difficulties in interpretation and reduce the level of text comprehension for representatives of a different linguistic worldview, particularly before the stage of explication.
