PHYTONYMIC PROVERBS IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH: A LINGUOCULTURAL PERSPECTIVE
This article presents a comparative linguo-cultural analysis of Uzbek and English proverbs with phytonymic components. The study demonstrates how plant names used in proverbs reflect cultural worldview, values, and symbolic meanings. Phytonyms serve as metaphors that connect human experiences with natural images, enriching proverbs with deep semantic and cultural connotations. The analysis shows both universal features, such as agricultural life, inheritance, and moral lessons, and national specificities shaped by the socio-cultural environment of each people. The research highlights the importance of understanding cultural background when interpreting or translating proverbs and emphasizes their role in intercultural communication, translation studies, and language teaching.
