The article is devoted to the development of a methodology for selecting young biathletes among boys aged 11–13 years based on a comprehensive examination of anthropometric, physical and psychological characteristics. The study covered a group of 215 schoolchildren who do not have special sports training. For selection, specialized modifications of standard tests were used to assess physical condition and psychological training. A correlation analysis of the inter- dependence of testing parameters was performed, which made it possible to formulate criteria for selecting promising young athletes to begin biathlon training. Specific practical recommendations for conducting effective selection are formulated. In today's competitive sports environment, the need for scientifically based systems for recruiting personnel is becoming increasingly relevant, and the presented work represents a significant contribution to the development of this area of research
