DATA ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GENUS MONILINIA IN UZBEKISTAN
This article presents the results of research on the Monilinia Honey genus in Uzbekistan, including the history of its study, ecology,
pathogenicity, and new field observations. As a result, five species were identified: Monilinia laxa, M. fructigena, M. fructicola,
M. linhartiana, and M. johnsonii. During field surveys in 2023 in the Zomin National Nature Park and Forish District (Jizzakh
Region), Monilinia johnsonii (Ellis & Everh.) Honey was recorded for the first time in Uzbekistan as a pathogen infecting hawthorn
(Crataegus spp.). The fungus causes brown leaf spot, flower blight, and fruit rot and is regarded as the main parasite of hawthorn
under local conditions. Morphological analysis confirmed that apothecia and conidia collected from infected hawthorn tissues
matched the diagnostic features of M. johnsonii. Therefore, this fungus is proposed as a new record for the mycobiota of Uzbekistan.
The study was conducted following the methodologies of Dementeva (1979) and Sheraliyev (1982) and compared with the findings
of Khasanov (2018–2022) and Jo‘raqulov (2023–2025).
