This study investigates the effect of γ-irradiation on the structural and optical properties of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) thin
films. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the appearance of peaks corresponding to a polycrystalline structure on an amorphous
glass substrate, along with an increase in their intensity after irradiation. Optical measurements showed that the band gap energy
of the film is Eg ≈ 3.61 eV, while the absorption maximum shifts toward longer wavelengths after irradiation. Mass spectrometry
analysis indicated the formation of molecular ions under Cs⁺ ion bombardment and the dominance of a recombination mechanism.
The results demonstrate that γ-irradiation is an effective method for modifying the structure of polymer materials.
