Taijiquan, Kung Fu and Qigong have deep roots in Chinese culture and are often mentioned together, but they differ significantly in their basic essences, training methods and emphases. This article characterizes the relationships and differences between Taijiquan, Kung Fu and Qigong. The analysis is based on Chinese scientific literature. It is concluded that, while remaining elements of Chinese national culture, they have differences in essences, historical background, theoretical basis and practical purposes, but they are all influenced by the ancient Chinese philosophy of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, which emphasize the coordination of spirit and body.
