In this work, for the first time, 1-(thiophenyl-2)-3-phenylpropyn-2-ol-1 was synthesized using the enantioselective alkynylation
reaction of thiophene-2-carbaldehyde with phenylacetylene in the presence of an organomagnesium compound. Tetrahydrofuran
was used as a solvent in this process. In order to achieve high efficiency as a result of the reaction, the effects of reaction
duration, temperature, mole amounts of starting materials were systematically analyzed. The physical and chemical properties of
the synthesized compound were analyzed using IR, NMR- 1 H and 13 C- spectroscopy methods, and the electronic structure,
distribution of charges in the molecule and quantum-chemical properties were studied.
